At The Ridge, you’ll find a series of oak-studded knolls and hills with lots of rock outcroppings and splendid views. There’s a 100-foot elevation change on the course. This feels like wide open country with no homes nearby. You’re really going to experience the natural world of the foothills when you play a round with us. Jones used 48 bunkers on our 170-acre site to enhance the demands of this rugged layout. You’ll also find water on several holes of this par-71 course. But there are four sets of tees here so you can choose how many tests you want to face. “It doesn’t have to be a difficult course,” said Greg French, retired director of golf at The Ridge.

Robert Trent Jones, Sr. shaped the modern craft of golf course architecture while demonstrating creativity and professionalism with all his unique designs. Following in his father’s footsteps, his son and namesake, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., has since carried out his legacy with his own architecture firm.

Picturesque Setting, Top Conditions, a Great Golf Value
You’ll start your round on the longest par-4 on the course, playing at 433 yards from the back tees and 343 yards from the forward. Be sure to use an extra club length as you have an uphill approach shot to the green.

One of the more attention grabbing holes is No. 4, a par-4 that measures 408 yards from the back and 330 from the forward. You’ll find a fairly generous fairway on this uphill dogleg left. “You can use your driver off the tee but you want to stay left of center in order to shorten your distance to the three-tiered green,” said Shawn Kelly, Head Golf Professional of The Ridge. However, don’t go too far left or you could end up going down a slope into a drainage area. The right side is safer. “The green with a bunker on the right-hand side makes for a tough putting surface,” said Kelly

On No. 7, a par-4 that measures 360 from the back tees and 265 from the forward – you must hit a tee shot to a very tight uphill fairway. Use a three-wood for your drive instead of a driver. Your short second shot must sail up to a rolling, undulating green that is only 26 yards deep.

You’ll finish the front nine with a par-5, 562 yards from the back and 500 from the forward. The fairway slopes downhill but this hole still takes three shots to the green. Start with a left center tee shot that avoids the hazard on the left. Then lay up on your second shot to the front of the lake in front of the green. “You can also bail out to the right to avoid the water,” said Kelly. The green is pretty straightforward and holds well, so you can make an aggressive approach shot as long as you stay below the hole.

No. 13, a par-4 that measures 416 yards from the back and 361 from the forward, is known as the most demanding and scenic hole at The Ridge. It’s a long, uphill hole that requires a muscular drive. “You hit uphill to a flat area and then uphill again to an elevated green surrounded by bunkers,” said Kelly. “There is a two-tiered green that is only 20 yards deep and is very narrow. All around, it’s a very good hole.”
On No. 16, you’ll face a straightaway par-4 (433 yards from the back and 329 from the forward) with a very tight driving area. You’re headed for an approach shot to a large rolling green that has water that starts in front and runs all the way around to the back.

You’ll finish up on a 427-yard dogleg left par-4 (325 from the forward tees). You can try to trim some distance on the left with your drive, but you’re going to have to cross water to do so. Or you might want to lay it up to the fairway bunker on the right hand side. You’re aiming for a two-tiered green with your approach shot so be careful of where the pin is located.
