About Us
Clubhouse patio - The Ridge

The Ridge Golf Course & Events Center has a truly an exciting layout for golf, a course in the golden foothills of California just a short drive from Sacramento designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., known the world over for creating golf holes that take full advantage of their sites while preserving the natural beauty of the land.

At The Ridge, you’ll find a series of oak-studded knolls and hills with lots of rock outcroppings and splendid views. There’s a 100-foot elevation change on the course. This feels like wide open country with no homes nearby. You’re really going to experience the natural world of the foothills when you play a round with us. Come see one of the finest golf courses in the entire Sacramento region.

Jones used 48 bunkers on our 170-acre site to enhance the demands of this rugged layout. You’ll also find water on several holes of this par-71 course. But there are four sets of tees here so you can choose how many tests you want to face. “It doesn’t have to be a difficult course,” said Greg French, retired director of golf at The Ridge. “Every player of every skill level can have a good time playing here.”

Once you’re done golfing, come enjoy our full-service Bar & Grill. You can kick back and relax while enjoying an ice-cold beverage and delicious meal. Our chef prides himself on using only the freshest ingredients, going out of his way to visit local farmer’s markets to incorporate premium local produce.

The Ridge Golf Course & Events Center has a truly exciting layout for golf with a picturesque course nestled between the golden foothills of Placer County. Our course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. – known worldwide for designing golf courses that take full advantage of their sites while preserving the natural beauty of the land.

At The Ridge, you’ll find a series of oak-studded knolls, rolling grassy hills, sparkling ponds and bold rock outcroppings to enjoy while you’re golfing. Imagine getting to play a sport you love while basking in the wide-open country. It just doesn’t get any better!

Jones, Jr. used 48 bunkers on our 170-acre site to enhance the demands of this rugged foothills layout. Each hole has four sets of tees, so you can choose your challenge level. “It doesn’t have to be a difficult course,” said Greg French, retired Director of Golf at The Ridge. “Every player of every skill level can have a good time playing here.”

Picturesque Setting, Top Conditions, a Great Golf Value
You’ll start your round on the longest par-4 on the course, playing at 433 yards from the back tees and 343 yards from the forward. Be sure to use an extra club length as you have an uphill approach shot to the green.

One of the more attention grabbing holes is No. 4, a par-4 that measures 408 yards from the back and 330 from the forward. You’ll find a fairly generous fairway on this uphill dogleg left. “You can use your driver off the tee but you want to stay left of center in order to shorten your distance to the three-tiered green,” said Shawn Kelly, Head Golf Professional of The Ridge. However, don’t go too far left or you could end up going down a slope into a drainage area. The right side is safer. “The green with a bunker on the right-hand side makes for a tough putting surface,” said Kelly

On No. 7, a par-4 that measures 360 from the back tees and 265 from the forward – you must hit a tee shot to a very tight uphill fairway. Use a three-wood for your drive instead of a driver. Your short second shot must sail up to a rolling, undulating green that is only 26 yards deep.

You’ll finish the front nine with a par-5, 562 yards from the back and 500 from the forward. The fairway slopes downhill but this hole still takes three shots to the green. Start with a left center tee shot that avoids the hazard on the left. Then lay up on your second shot to the front of the lake in front of the green. “You can also bail out to the right to avoid the water,” said Kelly. The green is pretty straightforward and holds well, so you can make an aggressive approach shot as long as you stay below the hole.

The Ridge Golf Course - Hole 11

No. 13, a par-4 that measures 416 yards from the back and 361 from the forward, is known as the most demanding and scenic hole at The Ridge. It’s a long, uphill hole that requires a muscular drive. “You hit uphill to a flat area and then uphill again to an elevated green surrounded by bunkers,” said Kelly. “There is a two-tiered green that is only 20 yards deep and is very narrow. All around, it’s a very good hole.”

On No. 16, you’ll face a straightaway par-4 (433 yards from the back and 329 from the forward) with a very tight driving area. You’re headed for an approach shot to a large rolling green that has water that starts in front and runs all the way around to the back.

You’ll finish up on a 427-yard dogleg left par-4 (325 from the forward tees). You can try to trim some distance on the left with your drive, but you’re going to have to cross water to do so. Or you might want to lay it up to the fairway bunker on the right hand side. You’re aiming for a two-tiered green with your approach shot so be careful of where the pin is located.

Practice Facility
Be sure to visit our practice facility just before you play and consider allowing a little extra time to warm up before you take on our beautiful course.

Thanks to the exciting challenges put into place by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. – you will want your drives to be strong and accurate. You will be faced with several uphill fairways that will challenge you on the tee box. So be sure to start out at our driving range to practice those wedge shots and work your way up through the clubs in your bag for about 15 minutes.

We have 25 stations for golfers on our driving range that include target greens to improve your aim. Finish your range session by “playing” the first few holes by imagining the first fairway and hitting a drive; then pretend you’re hitting your approach shot to the first green, and so forth. You’ll want to work on chipping and your sand shots at our separate green set aside for short-game work.

We also have a putting surface where you can get the feel of our greens before your arrive at your very first hole.
Driving Range
The driving range at The Ridge is a great place to practice or warm up before your round. We offer hitting on mats Monday to Friday and the grass tee Saturday and Sundays, weather permitting.

Range ball cost: $5 per token and each token is 34 balls. we also offer $50 and $100 Range Cards and a yearly program, all you can hit for $1000 per year.

Putting Green
The Ridge offers two practice putting greens that resemble the greens on the course to give you a great warm up session before you play. Their undulations and speed will give you a realistic feel of the greens to prepare you for a great game. Additionally, we allow chipping on our greens, please just repair any ball marks.

The greens possess a creeping bent grass surface – one of the best putting surfaces in the game of golf. They are smooth and true and will challenge any putting stroke.

Our putting greens are open daily from sunrise to sunset and there is no charge for using them.
